Here’s The Exact Number Of Ads Per Web Page That 100% of Users Actually See
Thursday, June 7th, 2012
Here’s some new research by SAY Media that suggests publishers are killing their advertising returns when they clutter their pages with ads.
Only around 76 percent of visitors actually look at an advertisement if there are a bunch of cluttered ads on the page, versus 100 percent if there’s only a single advertisement on the page.
We’ve included the full white paper presentation below. Long story short: stop placing so many advertisements on your site.
The whole project was to determine if a “clean” approach with a single, large ad was more effective than several ads on the same page.

SAY Media tracked eyes on each page to determine if the users were actually recognizing the ads in both a “cluttered” layout and a “clean” layout.

Here’s what the “clean” layout looks like — one big advertisement.
